    New Office 2016 help needed

Hi, I'm new and hope someone can help with some questions about my Office Professional Plus 2016 (64-bit) running on Windows 10 Professional Plus (64-bit).

I was previously using Office 2010 and can't seem to find a way to make the documents display as they used to. My problems are these:

How do I increase the text size on the ribbon at the top of window without having to resize the whole computer?

When I load a document I used to view it in Times New Roman size 12 font, but doing it now it looks much too small at 100% and I'm having to increase the window to almost 150%. Does anyone know why this might be?

I now always work on documents in the web layout option as the display option I used to use has disappeared. But it doesn't show the page numbers in status bar at bottom of window. Can I get these back?

I'll be back again tomorrow, so many thanks if anyone can help.

    Liz R.

Hi kithra and welcome to Tenforums!

Sorry, but I don't have straight answers to your questions. Can tell you my workarounds about some.

Text size in ribbon. Can't do specifically, but in Windows 1903 (maybe 1809 - last October update), you can go to Settings / Ease of access and change text size to some 115%. This won't scale your display, only all of the text on it, including menus, etc.

Text size in document is pretty much very relative. Depends on your display settings. I usually set the Word window to the size I want (1/2 to 3/4 of the display screen) and then set zoom to display width of the document (you have icon to do this or scale it with mouse + control). Close empty doc and all of the subsequent docs will open the same way.

Print layout is in View tab

Thanks for the welcome - I used to be over on the Seven Forum. And thanks for the replies. In the end I managed to solve most of it myself.

Looking around in the Shortcut Keys article I found that if you use Alt+Ctrl+N it will show Word in the Draft view. That was the one that was missing for me in Word 2016. So now, using that, I've increased the zoom to 148% and it's so much better. It also shows which page I'm on. My view is now so similar to Word 2010 that I'm almost happy.

    Update:

I just found a very quick solution. In Windows 10 go to display settings and find “make text bigger”. Use the slider (personally I’ve moved it to 130%) and under “make everything bigger” choose 100% recommended
That’s solved the ribbon on Word 2016 and I can now see it.

This was my suggestion in 2nd post. But that setting is under "Ease of Access" (only text is bigger) in Settings. Under display settings is "text apps and other items". But whichever works for you.
