How to prevent CCleaner automatic updates ?

    .
    I have Win 10 22H2 in Dell XPS 17.

[Start] I uninstalled whatever latest version of CC I had.

I clicked on a desktop icon for:

    CCleaner_v5.78.8558.exe

Everything worked fine - or as well as it ever does.

But a few days later I got a message informing me that the latest CC was now installed.

    Repeat from [Start].

Is there any way to prevent the automatic CC update ?

    Thanks

Use REVO uninstaller to uninstall CCleaner... the updated version, and make sure to "scan for leftovers" and delete them as well.
Then temporarily unhook the internet, and do the following...

    Re-install version 5.78 and then....

Do as @Bree mentioned, and also... block these three files in your firewall...

Last but not least.... add these lines to your HOSTS file...

    0.0.0.0 ncc.avast.com
    0.0.0.0 ncc.avast.com.edgesuite.net
    0.0.0.0 license.piriform.com
    0.0.0.0 ipm-provider.ff.avast.com
    0.0.0.0 shepherd.ff.avast.com
    0.0.0.0 ip-info.ff.avast.com
    0.0.0.0 analytics.ff.avast.com

The HOSTS file is located here... C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc

    My CCleaner version...

    or

Un-check the box for automatic updates immediately after installing your v5.78.8558.

Settings don't stick unless you choose to save them to file.

    Press Enter

Delete any Ccleaner update or crash reporting tasks. Don't delete Ccleaner SkipUAC task.

Your procedure is clear. But I'm wondering if you should have highlighted in red:

Delete any Ccleaner update or crash reporting tasks.

    Thanks

I should have but took the screenshot when mentally focused on the update task and then could not be bothered to take another screenshot and edit it.

    .
It's now 5 days since I incorporated all the valuable suggestions given in this thread.

CCleaner_v5.78.8558.exe has still not been bullied off my laptop by the latest version of CC.

So thanks to @Bree, @Ghot, and @Callender for their sterling support.

I wonder if it's worth it when you have to fight an app to honour your preferences.

On the other hand... it's just like Windows itself really.
