Recent places in Explorer doesn't work.

    Sometimes you may find that you still have a folder or file listed under recent in jump lists that it's source has actually already been deleted.

    Since you did clear recent items and still have this issue, then that wouldn't be the problem though.

    I'm afraid that I'm not sure what could be the issue that prevents items in jump lists from opening.

    Do you remember installing anything right before this started?

    Well not anything out of the ordinary, I don't actually recall the last time I installed something.

    Though I feel like that it has been ongoing since I installed W10..

    Maybe I could get an answer checking the Event Viewer?

    I'd say a repair install should sort it without losing anything if you like.

    Try this; go to %appdata%/Microsoft/Windows/Recent Items and delete all files in there.
    Also delete all files in the two folders AutomaticDestinations and CustomDestinations

    Yep, that's what using the .bat file posted earlier to clear recent items does.
