Why Does Google Earth Pro Require Admin Privileges to Download/Install

I was having problems getting Google Earth Pro to run properly, so I tried uninstalling and reinstalling it. Now the installation .exe file requires Admin to install.
Is this a new trend, or did Google release an update that was not properly checked?

App installers will require Admin privileges if they're installing for ALL users, instead of just for your account.

Google Earth Pro 7.x also wants to install a self-updater (which naturally requires Admin rights):
You are downloading version 7.3 of Google Earth Pro. This version automatically installs recommended updates. If you'd like previous versions of Google Earth Pro, please visit the Direct Installers page.

    ...
If you need to manually update Google Earth, you can download the most recent 7.x direct installers. Some of the following installers do not auto-update (not recommended).

    Thanks for a prompt reply.
Where do I set the user from ALL to ME?
    I am the only user.

As noted in my second reason, Google Earth wants to install Google Update Setup which is the updater shared by all Google desktop apps (Drive, Chrome, etc.). If you don't want to accept this feature, then install one of the older Google Earth versions.

But if you try installing the 7.18 version, we're back to my first reason -- Google has written this app to install for all users, and when this happens, most of the time they don't bother allowing any other options.

It is what it is, because that's how Google wrote the current installer.

Could be for whatever reason it won't update in Linux either.
