Google Earth Is Unable To Contact the Server (error message)

    I am running:

    H22H2 (OS Build 19045.3930)

For the past couple of weeks Google Earth Pro has opened with the 'error message' Google Earth is unable to contact the server.

It still worked and did what I wanted it to do, so I ignored the message.

Today I noticed that that the icon on the Taskbar had changed to one that looked like an old Preview icon in Word 2000 without the magnifying glass. My icon for Libre Office also changed.

Google Earth now presents me with a black screen instead of a view of someplace on earth.

Are updates pushing us to move to Win 11?

    No Joy - Still Black

I did download Google Earth Pro as that was the program I have been using.

I tried your suggestion. Help/About tells me I am running Google Earth 10.45.0.3. I allowed it to know my location. It shows my location in the Address Bar:

    Google Earth

Unfortunately, the screen is black with no details.

I was using a Google Earth to create a map of a walk I take to share with a friend when it failed and closed. I rebooted. I uninstalled the program and reinstalled it. Nothing seems to work.

Do you have a backup from before the problem occurred?
    Or maybe a restore point?

On my PC Google Earth Pro updated on 29th January. It's now Version 7.3.6.9750. Wonder if that's caused your problem, it's working fine for me.
