Video capturing with usb capture device

Hi me again once again I find myself struggling.
A few years ago I did some video capture with a PCI card and phono to VHS player which worked fine.
Some time back I bought an ‘Easycap usb device as card was in an earlier PC and has gone, I have to confess I can’t remember if I’ve had that successfully working or not.
I’ve installed on this win 10 system version 2004 build 19041.685 as I have some footage on an old JVC VHS recorder that I’d like to keep and store digitally, now! Although windows reports that usb capture device was successfully installed and ready to use, also Easycap software is installed and seems to work fine, it claims that I have no capture device on PC.
I Have Pinnacle Studio 14 and can’t get that to find it either, there’s one other strange anomaly when in Easycap software and click on video capture Studio 14 fires up as well?? Which I cancel.
Any help would be appreciated (although technical instructions will probably go over my head).

The Pinnacle software is conflicting with the EasyCAP software, cancelling them both out. The EasyCAP adapter does not work with any other importing/editing software. I would uninstall Pinnacle, then restart your computer. With the adapter plugged into your VCR that is on. Start the EasyCAP program, then play your VCR video tape, it should play in the EasyCAP program import window, and you can record it in Real Time. meaning, you will have to start, stop it and monitor it manually. Once you have captured the video in EasyCAP, you can save it to your computer.

The genuine version is given---EzCAP---and is from ---szforwardvideo.com---
The hardware suffered from piracy, the products were more often plagued by problems and it received bad reports.
My version is genuine---EzCAP116 version 3.2A and works without a problem.
With your spelling,a pirate version could be the problem

If you can't get it up and running on Win 10 easily, I'd suggest two options:
    a. Try a driver updater program - for your EasyCap device only, ignoring any other results.
    e.g. Drivermax (2 free a day).

    b. Use a virtual machine- e.g. VirtualBox (free) with e.g. Win 7 or earlier installed running under Win 10.
    Install Easycap on that.

I just plugged mine in on 64 bit Windows and see:

I don't recall if this only has a 32 bit driver available- long time since I used it- probably on 32 bit Windows.

Simple way I did it is with a cheap usb tv tunner and play tapes through that most of the software with the tuners let you record directley
