Available? Windows 10 apps list with explanations of purpose?

I'd like to trim out a few apps from my new W10 installation, but I've no idea what some of these do. Has anyone run across a list of all the various W10 apps, together with their purposes?

BTW: Kindly avoid posting such comments as "Why do you want to uninstall...?" etc. I just do, okay? Thank you.

Is it not obvious from their names what they do?

Search for the ones you have in the Store where they tend to have fuller explanations.
- The Store App in your Start menu.

Besides that excellent link from @mngerhold, you could also look at those Apps & Programs that you have installed, as we can tend to forget over time, and then investigate those as well . . .

> Control Panel > Programs & Features.

Also, to see what you have installed, Copy & Paste the following command into a CMD Prompt and press Enter.

If you decide to use PowerShell to list your apps, as suggested by Paul above, then using their MSStore descriptions to figure out what they do, you might find it handy to save Paul's output, the list of apps, to a file.
Here is a modified form of Paul's suggestion that outputs the list straight into a csv file on your Desktop that can be opened in Excel.
Paste both lines into an elevated PowerShell window

It's really worth making time to browse through the Tutorial index - there's a shortcut to it at the top of every page.

- At the foot of the Tutorial index is a shortcut to download it as a spreadsheet.
- I download a new copy each month.
- By downloading it as a spreadsheet I can benefit from Excel's excellent filtering capabilities when I search for topics of interest.

- Tutorials are also listed by category at Tutorials - there's also a shortcut to that at the top of every page.
- Both tutorial lists are searchable.

One thing about Windows Apps... you can always put them back if desired. In fact, sometimes it's hard to keep them from coming back on their own.

Anyway, I too felt that MS went overboard with Apps. After all, it is MY computer, not theirs.
So me and my buddy REVO Uninstaller decided to "trim" the Windows Apps.
I removed all the ones with RED dots...







The computer and my OCD were much happier after the... purge.
