Calibre Portable v2.8 (latest version) is working.

    Hauppage WinTV7 v3.9b is working.

Does anyone know a decent replacement for Windows Media Centre for TV viewing and recording? WinTV is working for TV viewing but it's pretty crude and does not have any TV Guide or scheduled PVR capability built in.

Here's a link for a plug-in. It was posted in 2008 so I don't know if this will help or not. I would ask if it's being updated and still works before trying it.

Thanks. The plug-in still installs in IE 11 but it looks like the Zap2It site has changed enough over the years that the plug-in no longer works. But thanks very much for reminding me of Zap2It.com. That's what I used to use to check the schedule manually back in the days before Windows Media Centre. It will help make using WinTV a bit more palatable.

My favorite program was Beyond TV 4. Never could get it working in Windows 8.

I find after just a couple of days with WinTV that I'm much too spoiled by Media Centre to go back to WinTV. It's like a view directly back into the Stone Age.

I have an SSD ordered for my Win10 system so when I install it I'm going to move my TV tuners to my Win7 system. Media Centre is a plenty good enough reason to keep at least one system around with Win 7 or 8.1 when 10 is finally released.

I had no problems with Thunderbird in Build 9841. Since update to Build 9860, all printouts of email messages come out blank. I have no problem printing with other programs.

Similar problem here. If I try to print a message, T-Bird hangs up.

I lost the ability to print in Thunderbird, Pale Moon and Firefox. I'm hoping this gets fixed in the next update.

    'StartIsBack' Beta for WTP

A Beta version of 'StartIsBack' for Windows Technical Preview, (1.7beta, (experimental)), is available.
Among it's many features it enables you to open a traditional start menu on your main monitor and the Start Screen on a second monitor.
