Help me please in fixing missing store icon on start menu

    Hello,

So I'm in the process of migrating my old pc data to my new pc and currently stuck on solving this little annoying issue:

getting the Microsoft store icon to show up on the start menu.

I've tried alot of things. Did an in house upgrade of Windows 10 then did dism checkhealth and then restore health and then sfc scannow and it did not find any corrupted files before I did the in house upgrade it did though...

Reset icon cache, plugged in that cmd code to re-register the store app...

Now the odd thing is that it works fine on another profile.... Can't I just copy it from a new profile to my imported user account?

I dunno if this will help, but MS Store lives here... but it's just one of those symbolic links... :/

    C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.WindowsStore_12011.1001.1.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe\WinStoreApp.exe

Your version number might be different.
WinStoreApp.exe is the file I have to allow in Bitdefender firewall, to get MS Store to work.

    /edit

    This may also help...
I tried many ways to get MS Store back... this was the one that worked...
I completely uninstalled microsoft Store, now I want it back.

Hey, I do not have such a file on my C drive. Is that normal?

I searched for WinStoreApp.exe and WinStoreApp

Also those WindowsApps folders are empty Screenshot - 201aeed14df911723002f3e0934be887 - Gyazo

Do Solution 9, here... (this just re-installs all the apps that come with Windows 10)

Windows 10 Store not Installed [FIXED] - Appuals.com

AFTER you do Solution 9 make sure to run this command in PowerShell (admin)

    Set-ExecutionPolicy Undefined

When you're all done... if there are any Apps you don't want... use REVO Uninstaller to remove them.
MS Store doesn't show on this list. But these are the ones I didn't remove on Windows 10.

WinStoreApp.exe doesn't show up when I do a search either... but it's there just the same.
Most MS Apps are in C:\Program Files\WindowsApps. I'm not sure "search" can search inside that folder.

It's been quite a while, but I think I had to "Take Ownership" of the WindowsApps folder, to be able to open it.
Yeah... I'm the "Owner" of that folder.

Thanks for your help. I tried method 9 and no result. Also took ownership of that directory and managed to find the folder that has the exe file in it. I set it allowed on inbound and outbound windows firewall rule but no effect either or do I need to restart?

Also this app doesn't work (your phone): Screenshot - f5c06de6355b11b39b8884f288bf3451 - Gyazo

I tried doing a uninstall through revo uninstaller and reinstall through the store but no result. It gives on startup this error everytime: phoneexperiencehost.exe registry database is corrupt

Not sure what else to try? I mean it works fine on another user profile so maybe the solution lies in the registry or copying a newly created profile and merging it with this one I'm using?

    @Max Pen

That I can't help you with.
Since the XP days, I've never had more than one profile.

When I used REVO to remove MS store.... nothing I could do would get it back, until I tried Solution 9 at Appauls.
That's why I figured that would work, for you.

As for restarting... yeah, I would restart. A lot of things don't apply until after a restart.

IF, only the MS Store icon is missing, you might try this...

Right click MS Store and choose: More > App Settings and then "Reset" the app...

Prior to you "migrating data", was your 'new' PC working ok- did the Store work and have a shortcut in the Start menu?

I.e. did you break something somehow?

Can't I just copy it from a new profile to my imported user account?
Store apps are installed per user profile.
