Do you have any weather related apps listed under Notifications & Action settings | Show Notifications from these apps? How about if you click the Turn system icons on or off? How about under Select which icons appear on the taskbar?

    Hi.
    Did you ever resolve this?
I have run the same checks and double checks as you and I still have this issue.

    Annoying icon:

    Annoying icon (moused over):

    Weather app in notification area-w10-weather-2-crop.jpg

    After "left clicking":

    Weather app in notification area-w10-weather-3-crop.jpg

I live hundreds of miles away from Newport (any of them!) and - whilst I could change the default town/city - I don't like something like this appearing unexpectedly AND not capable of being easily "killed".

    Any/all help gratefully received.

Yes it looks like I had installed a rogue piece of software which installed this. I used Malwarebytes to uninstall it
It was a program called WeatherTool by OpenCandy

    Thanks.

That was it. Malwarebytes found and removed them.

FWIW I think I must've let this slip through when installing ImgBurn. Losing my touch in my old age...

    Thanks again.
