    Start Menu Live Tiles All Of Them Stopped Being Live

    Guys,

    Out from the sky, all my Start Menu Live Tiles stopped being live. Did not touch a thing.

    Windows 10 x32, 1709 16299.334

    Do not have a Restore Point. Could you please help me to bring them alive again. It also influenced that my Mail App pinned to taskbar does not show any new mail notification, that small number of new mails.

    Suggestions :

    1. Run Start Menu Troubleshooter.
    Use this link to download and run it.......... StartMenu troubleshooter.

    2. Right click at Start button > select PowerShell (Admin) > at the prompt, copy/paste this command ........
    Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register"$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}
    Press Enter.

    Good luck.

    If the above cannot fix the issues, here are some more suggestios :

    3. Run a system file check to look for corrupt files. It will try to do repair if any found.
    Open Elevated Command Prompt > enter this command line ........ sfc /scannow > Enter.
    If the result says it finds corrupt files but unable to repair some of them, then use the same Elevated Command Prompt > copy and paste this ........ dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth > Enter.

    4. If #3 no help, create a new user account and see if the same problem appears. If no problem, then it indicates you have a corrupted user account.

    @davidhk
    Thank you for you ideas. Tried them, nothing fixed Live Tiles.

    1. Tried Start Menu Troubleshooter, no problems found.
    2. Tried this code in Powershell, it re-registered all apps, no Live Tiles again.
    3. Tried sfc /scannow, then in sequence DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth and DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth, no problem found.
    4. Added new user for test, open Start Menu, lot of tiles, but none of them alive, just blank ones.

    Just for curiosity. It started here on Sunday, when time has changed from winter to summer time, you know, time Zone+2, became Zone+1 and then problem started. I tried also to resync time with w32tm /resync and nothing. My Widnows time uses internet server for synchronization.

    I do not have restore point to return it back to something and I have no wish to reinstall Windows.

    Do you have any further ideas?

    Just one..................Repair Install.
    You did say you had no wish to reinstall Windows, but Repair Install is all I can offer.
    Repair Install allows you to keep all your files, settings and programs.
    No product key is required.
    Activation is automatic.
    You have nothing to lose except time to run Repair Install.

    There's an article here that explains globally turning live tiles off and on. If you are running Win 10 Home, you can't use the Group Policy method, but you can look at the Registry entry and change if it is set wrong.

    Also a tutorial here on TF with the same instructions:

    Enable or Disable Live Tiles on Start in Windows 10 Windows 10 Tutorials

    Take a look at the article, maybe something got set wrong...

    @f14tomcat

    Thank you, thank you, thank you. It was set up in Group Policy, Turn off tile notifications to ENABLED. Changed it there to disabled and Live Tiles start working again.

    Thank you @davidhk, too, for you effforts.

    I am back to previous situation, all tiles are alive, but Microsoft Store tile, I have never made it to be live tile. Perhaps, it should be set up somewhere also. I know that inside of Microsoft, Settings, there is option to set ON for Live Tiles, which I did, but Microsoft Store Tile is the only one which is not alive. If someone has solution for that, too, I would appreciate a lot.

    Hey, glad that did it! The Store App, being an App to get Apps, is kinda a weirdo and always has been.

    Thank you once again. This is a little bit ridiculous that only Microsoft Store Live tile is not working, all other Live Tiles are ij function. Do you have some registry or other fix, where to search for the solution for Microsoft Store Live Tile in Start Menu. Tried everything I know, so far.
