Is there any version of ImgBurn left without malware?

I've got a new PC and wanted to download ImgBurn for my optical drive. However, I am all too familiar with the malware bundled in many of the links. I heard that Gizmo's list of freeware was screened to weed out this stuff. However, I was just reading about "candy" included on one of the downloads. So how does a PC user get free downloads now days without the concern of getting crapware installed on their computer? Any thoughts and in particular advice about a clean link for Imgburn? Thanks.

Thanks for the quick reply. I checked our majorgeeks.com. It seems one link (for ImgBurn) "did" have something embedded in the download link (as per my scan by Malwarebytes), but another link version scanned clean.

It's a shame now days that it's very difficult to find reliable sites for free apps that aren't loaded with crapware. It's like downloader beware!! And if you dare to trust a site, you better always have a trustworthy utility to do a scan of the download before installing on any PC that you care about.

Makes it somewhat of a pain in the butt to get free stuff. It didn't seem to be so much like this 20 years ago. Times were different.

You need to scan it here...

    VirusTotal

Just drag and drop the file on the fingerprint.

softpedia.com is another good site with decent reviews.

Also filehippo.com - which has a list of older versions as well:

Disconnect from the Internet before installing.

Most freeware programs can be extracted using 7-zip without installation. Take imageBurn as an example.
Using 7-zip to extract it (SetupImgBurn_2.5.8.0.exe). The content as shown below:

And you actually need these 2's below to run it.

Hence it can be used as portable. Open the page in post #4 and drop imgBurn.exe to check for virus.

Try using the official website if possible:

Official download link offers the same version, though it is not harmful, I have just installed it.

    VirusTotal

ImgBurn has not been updated for 5 years, it would be better to use something else.

I recommend Unchecky Unchecky - Keeps your checkboxes clear . It's freeware and pretty good at stopping the installation of unwanted programs that can get installed alongside stuff you really want. No substitute for decent antivirus/antimalware and a fully engaged brain, but sits in the system tray using few resources and warns you if you might be likely to install some trial or addon that you REALLY didn't want.
