I've got two of both ATA Channels 0 and 1. Should I uninstall all of them? I do not have any listing for an Unknown Device. If I uninstall the above and it does not cure the problem can I reinstall them? And what do these devices do? I'm so grateful for all the help I'm getting. This is a great forum.

They will be reinstalled when you restart the machine. Yes , uninstall all of them. You should only have one of each and having 2 may be the problem. They are the things responsible for detecting and running connected drives.

    Dch48, you're the man!

Yippee! The drive is back. Uninstalled as suggested, restarted, and drive is there.
Thanks so much guys for all your help, made a 70 year old novice very happy. Now all I've got to do is remember what I wanted to use the drive for .
