    Alphabetizing "The" "A" etc

Is there any Windows Explorer replacement that alphabetizes media titles correctly? "The" and "A" as starting words are supposed to be ignored, or dealt with last. It's really annoying to deal with 15% of a large media set all lumped together in the THE's.

I would settle for a "ignore this list of words if first" option.

That comment only applies to some media players, such as WMP, but not to File explorer.

If the feature matters to you then use WMP to browse your media instead of File explorer.

Under what grammatic syntax rules ? Might be a feature of some software sorting rules, but that's internal to that software, not the standard.

Sure, I'll rename 40,000 files to fix a poor design choice in Windows. Good idea.

It's not a software rule, it's a centuries old rule for how to alphabetize. It was just easier for someone to avoid a tiny three-word parser sometime in the misty past. Software that is designed to deal with books and such usually does this right. See Calibre for an example. Most references and checklists sort without A or An or The.

To answer the question I actually asked, "XYplorer can be set to ignore leading articles."

ReNamer << Products << den4b.com can rename all files in folders at once, I also hate that "The" prefix so I took it of all The Beatles or The Doors etc. in my collection using this SW.

FileRenamer works for me, but in this case, renaming the files that way is not an option. External factors.

I don't consider the current implementation of sorting in Explorer is a mistake.

Not considering word like "A" and "The" is appropriate for specific situations. But for general purposes I think not. As an option it would be useful. But Microsoft receives huge numbers of feature requests and implementing all of them is both impractical and undesirable. So choices must be made.

A rather well known software developer once said something like this:

Designing software means making many decisions.
    Sometimes theses decisions are hard.
    Sometimes they are very hard.
Sometimes no matter what decision you make somebody will say it was a stupid one.

    You can't satisfy everybody.

Personally a I don't like Explorer but for different reasons. I don't mean that as a criticism of Microsoft designers.

Me Too! I used a bulk renamer to delete 'The' at start and add (The) at file name end. Problem solved

Problem is not solved if music for instance is on write protected media like CD, DVD, Blue ray. Some CD rippers used to make files like The_Beatles_Yellow _Submarine.mp3 and I used to make rule in ReNamer to get rid of extra characters.
