Seeking Adobe Acrobat X Pro Alternatives

Windows 10 Pro - 2004, OS Build: 19041.746

Howdy All

I'm a long time user of Adobe Acrobat X Pro which is now out of date and no longer supported.
Adobe is pushing me to buy its "Latest and Greatest", but since I'm now retired it's hard to justify $450 and I'm not one who rents software month-by-month.

I see many alternatives and hope to avoid trial and error.
Any personal reviews and/or comments on alternate products would be greatly appreciated.

I did have a friend who was in a very similar situation to yourself and wanted a comparable software without the hefty price tag. I know that he tried both the FREE versions and PAID versions [ trials mainly ] and by NO means expected to get anywhere close to what he had. To his surprise, he found Wondershare PDFelement to be a good replacement.

As an added note, this was a year or so ago, but I wouldn't think that things have changed that much since then.

For whatever reason this site 8 Best PDF Editor Softwares For Mac And Windows [2021] - Whatvwant is showing Adobe Acrobat Reader available as paid-for, certainly a change from the traditional free offering by Adobe I've been using for years on all computers. I also have the full paid-for Adobe Acrobat 9 version on one computer.


If needing to get a new full version that Wondershare PDFelement is enticing.

If you're a student, have a student ID and/or .edu email address (as I do) you can get the (non subscription) student/teacher edition of Adobe Acrobat Pro for $118 (digital download) dollars from Amazon.

As an active student its how I get a lot of my software. I'm currently running the Acobat 2017 S/T edition and I paid the same price for it. There's absolutely no difference between the S/T version and the regular version other than you getting a steep discount. And even if you're no longer in school the products don't "deactivate".

I will warn though that if you buy this product and don't qualify, you want be getting your money back!!!. Also, Amazon requires you to pre-qualify before you're able to purchase any student / teacher edition software. However you can simply pick up a copy in a local store selling the software, but you still have to register your qualifications before getting a product code to activate the software. Usually you just need to supply a .edu email address, but the company may also require a bill or copy of your student ID.

FWIW: I find I'm only dealing with a nag pop-up to continue with my "trial". I may stick with that for awhile.
