Maybe sound is muted in your media player on your tablet or the volume is turned down.

Or maybe missing a codec or something. Plus we are only supposed to talk about downloading non copyrighted legal content.

Check playback device being used by your media player and check that it's selected in system tray icon for sound.

These are legal downloads, old films. Not streamed or such but via a legal downloader. I do not do 'piracy'. I neglected to mention its via YouTube.

Lets assume my Windows media player is good; then what codecs am I missing?

Sorry but I don't use WMP and never have. Are you using WMP on both machines but videos play with sound on one machine but not the other? If so you need help from someone who knows more about WMP than I do.

Suggest: Test a portable media player to see if you get the same problem.

There are browser add-ins available for downloading from sites like YouTube such as ant.com. Some include a scannable square similar to a bar code included on free downloads but the paid-for version eliminates that.

Windows Media Player is still available but the Media Center feature of earlier versions of Windows has been discontinued on Win10, I use VLC [videolan.org] for movies/videos.

Most newer Youtube videos use OGG format for the sound; not always recognized by all media players.

I download VLC yesterday but apart from that did nothing. I clicked in the film link and it opened and played with sound, but not in VLC. So I figured that VLC inserted the missing codecs into the pc to ensure normal service.
