    Cannot connect to my email servers using Outlook 2016 or Thunderbird


    Task 'Synchronizing subscribed folders for sock@gmail.com.' reported error (0x800CCC0E) : 'Outlook cannot synchronize subscribed folders for sock@gmail.com. Error: Cannot connect to the server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).'
    The above message is from Outlook 2016. It seems as though Windows is blocking the connection for reasons unknown. It was working great, and I tried reinstalling earlier backups of Windows 10 to no avail. I get the same message when I try to connect to my yahoo email account. I also tried reinstalling Office 2016, but again to no avail.

    Hi there

    is the gmail server working OK -- it might be nothing to do with Windows but at the server end. Can you send an email via a browser to see if it's working that way.

    BTW I though yahoo was now owned by somebody else so I'm surprised emails are still working.

    I hate webmail via browsers but for a test should be OK.
