    InfraRecorder not working in Windows 10

    Has anyone been able to get Infrarecorder to actually work on the screen? It stays in memory, shown in Task Manger, tried both the 32 bit version and 64 bit version, but absolutely will not keep a window open to use the program. Have tried running as admin, tried compatibility mode as well.

    Hoping someone has seen the same and found a fix.

    Hi! Try to download and run portable edition. It worked for me.

    I installed InfraRecorder (64bit) on Win10 with the installer, and the first time I started it, it worked well and I was able to burn a CD. After that and after I closed InfraRecorder, I wasn't able to start it up again. Same thing happend as dnemls described, process was visible in the task manager but no windows was shown.

    So I tried the portable version as viale73 suggested and the same thing happened. The first time I started InfraRecorder it worked well and again I was able to burn a CD. But afterwards InfraRecorder wouldn't start up a second time.

    I found a workaround though: After the first run, there is a filled called "settings.xml" in the InfraRecorder portable folder. Deleting that file allowed me to start InfraRecorder again. The same helped for the version of InfraRecorder installed with the installer, only difference is that the settings.xml file is located in C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Roaming\InfraRecorder.

    So there seems to be some kind of problem with the settings....

    Other programs sometimes give the same issue, most frequently for me used to be Firefox but haven't seen it so much in the last 3 or 4 versions. It would not be visibly open but using Task Manager showed it in memory so I would End Task then I could open it normally. And there could be any number of programs that don't release from memory.

    I thank you greatly, as expected it worked for me as well. I am returning the favor. Instead of deleting the 'settings.xml' file, edit it!
    I played around and found a workaround that seems to work every time. You can tweak it all you like, but it seems to work as is.

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-16" standalone="yes"?>
    <InfraRecorder>
    <Settings>
    <Language>
    </Language>
    <Global>
    <AutoRunCheck>0</AutoRunCheck> <--- Change this value from '1' to '0'
    <Log>1</Log>
    <RememberShell>0</RememberShell> <--- Change this value from '1' to '0'
    <CopyWarning>0</CopyWarning> <--- Change this value from '1' to '0'
    <RawImageInfo>1</RawImageInfo>
    <CharSetWarning>0</CharSetWarning> <--- Change this value from '1' to '0'
    <WriteSpeedWarning>0</WriteSpeedWarning> <--- Change this value from '1' to '0'
    <CodecWarning>0</CodecWarning> <--- Change this value from '1' to '0' (Might not have to change this)
    <FixateWarning>0</FixateWarning> <--- Change this value from '1' to '0'
    <NoDevWarning>0</NoDevWarning> <--- Change this value from '1' to '0'
    <Smoke>0</Smoke> <--- Change this value from '1' to '0'
    <Wizard>0</Wizard> <--- Change this value from '1' to '0'

    There are more settings after this, but I didn't bother changing them.

    I've just had the same problem and the solution above worked. I took a copy of settings.xml as the settings seem to be changed after every execution of the program. I am, however getting a warning message: "Unable to load the configuration file, it may be corrupt. The XML processor returned: 2.". When I click OK to this, InfraRecorder starts & works OK.

    SheriffGlenn, thank you for your solution, but it donīt work for me.So I set the changes above back to the originals and look at the following. There is one line that takes my interrest:"ShellDir"D:\Meine_Ordner\Music"/ShellDir"Itīs the default or last used folder. If I delet the data and save the changes, the Program starts normal. After burning a CD and close Infrarecorder, it was updated and it wonīt work anymore... Finaly I delet it, open the Program and try some default folder settings. Using the desktop as default works every time!

    Here is what seems to be working for me. I'm running Window 10 Pro (x64).
    I'm using Infrarecorder 0.53 x64.
    I changed only one line in the C:\Users\MyUser\AppData\Roaming\Infrarecorder\Settings.xml file:

    <RememberShell>1</RememberShell> (I changed the '1' to '0', that's a zero)
    <RememberShell>0</RememberShell>

    Now the GUI comes up every time.

    It is true that the problem lies in the setting.xml file, which is stored ay every program use. Suppressing this file is equivalent as using the program in its native form. But in fact, this file stores YOUR'S settings. So, YOU defined explicitly or implicitly a wrong parameter. I spent some time to find what to do, which is as follows :
    1) suppress settings.xml in order to wortk with a native version of infrarecorder.
    2) open infrarecorder.
    3)open 'options\configuration
    4) disable the option 'Remember the last active folder'
    And the problem is solved.
    This procedure has to be done on every account on yout computer.
    I tested on 5 computers, it always worked.
    Sincerely yours,
    JEF
