I have an HP laptop with the same problem. I use a screen saver instead of sleep mode until they fix this. I thought of going back to 8.1 but , no I like the format.
I'm new here, but I for one am liking windows 10 and not going back to 8. Thank you Microsoft!!
I've just been using the pad with the mouse unplugged. It's not a big deal for me though. You can try that and see if it works. I had to force off with the power button to get mine to come back on...
I think we have one month to go back to windows 8 , so I'm giving them a chance to fix there problems. So far that is the only thing I found.

I don't know for sure but I have an HP laptop and it does the same thing , but only if I am using my mouse. If I use the touch pad and the mouse is unplugged then it works fine. Hope they can address...
