After a restart the USB worked, and surprisingly after the download I was able to install 10 on my new drive. This shouldn't be so damn difficult but that's Microsoft. I have some things to turn off...
Heck, trying to download to a 16Gb usb drive and the media creation tool doesn't even see that. Tried formatting in both fat 32 and NTFS and neither works. This sucks.
Ken, did everything you said and still getting the same error. When doing this I have all my other drives disconnected and in fact no USB's connected other than the mouse.
I'm using the ISO file burned onto a DVD. The error I'm getting is 0x8007025d, Windows cannot install required files. I've tried downloading the ISO file twice and burned to another disc, still the...
I keep getting an 025 error about 60 percent into installing Win 10 on a new WD 1TB drive. I've deleted and formatted partitions, and only used the one drive, others disconnected. I upgraded from 7...
I've done my share of clean installs, wiping drives and using an installation disc. It is certainly the best option. My biggest concern with doing the upgrade is having a disc I know is going to work...
Thanks everyone. I thought doing a clean install meant wiping the drive which apparently didn't have to happen. I went to the MS site and followed the instructions and low an behold all I lost were...
Apparently no one has any other suggestions?
It shouldn't be this damn hard, trying to get updates to a system that Microsoft pushed so hard for everyone to get. They have their users but then they screw them by making updates almost impossible...
Typical of Microsoft. Their tech wizards never make things easy. It's why I stuck with Win 7 even though MS made it impossible to get updates. I tried installing again with no other drives installed...

I just tried installing Win 10 from the ISO image created on a DVD. I got to 47% and then...
Modern setup host has stopped working.
A program caused the program to stop working correctly....
I'll have to try that over the weekend. I went through hell trying to get the Win10 upgrade from Win 7 but that was several months ago and it may have been how I finally did it. I'll have to do a...

Yes, that is what the update says 'Features update to Windows 10, version 1607'. It apparently downloads but won't install.
When I do updates I don't shut down. I'm just trying to get 1607 and it fails and doesn't even show in the failed updates. It's the only update I get that's pending.
I get that and my build is apparently old according to NavyLCDR. How do get the latest build and will that allow me to get 1607?

Why isn't 1607 showing up in failed to install? This is why I get so frustrated with Windows and I can see why the average PC owner gets so frustrated. Uggghhhh
I didn't realize all the failed to install updates were the same and then it was finally successful.
SFC found nothing wrong. Here is my update history. I didn't realize I had so many updates that failed. Should I try to get the failed updates? 115223115224115225115226
I'm in the process of doing that now. I've used that before when I was trying to get updates for Win7 but don't remember what it actually does. I'm still learning how to navigate in WIn10.
The reason I didn't upgrade to 1607 was because I was using Win 7 and hadn't logged onto 10 in a few months. Win 10 was the free upgrade from Win 7. Why it won't work I have no idea. It says it's...
I'm using Win 10 on a PC, I mostly do video and photo editing and viewing, and the general internet browse. Is 1607 anything special, is it needed for future updates or is it more specific to touch...
I was trying to install it also and it kept failing. If the only way to do it is to do a clean install then screw it. If it comes to the point of not being able to get updates because of not having...
