just upgraded from win7 which has nothing. small driver issue is gone, and I am going to make acronis image of this brand new windows 10. after 1 year, don't think that ms will allow any upgrade...

I would only do clean install for such big jump of upgrade.

Pls try clean install with local account only, i.e. no ms account, and you will see your Win10 is activated automatically. So I may can say that it has nothing to do with the ms account.
