125 dpi ruins everything, except icons. Those look normal at that point, but my fonts are oversized and blurry as hell. I think this issue has been well documented when using higher...
Yeah -- really don't want to use a third party application to accomplish this. Clearly, there is a way to adjust the icon size. I'm willing to pay him for that information, but no response yet.

Tried setting every one of the Shell Icon Size (About Icons (Windows)) everywhere possible in the registry, but no love.
Would love to know how he is doing it with StartIsBack. I really don't...
I see what you did there :P
That did the trick for the icon size, but I don't want the old start menu. I like the Windows 10 which is a perfect blend for me. So, we know it can be done. Maybe I'll reach out to the developer.

DJ Steve -- Correct. "Use small taskbar buttons" is NOT checked. You should see how hilariously small they get when I do check it! :)
Would appear that you need Administrative rights to run those programs. I wonder if you could use a hack like the blank.ico trick for not having the shortcut "arrow" overlay on shortcuts, the way...
Screenshot should say it all. 3x27" monitor span, used to nice useful Aero Peek windows in Win 7 and 8.1, I can't see how this little thumbnail at 59x59px is of use to anyone.
The icons on the...

Background looks awful at 5670x1080!
did you run the compatibility check to see if you have incompatible apps? We've run into Office 2010 Starter and Office Click to Run as apps that are incompatible today, after removing them, all was...

fwiw, i ran this on a second PC (this time Win 7 Enterprise) and it downloaded Windows 10 and brought me to the "Ready to Install" screen at around 1:00 today (Eastern time).
Dunno where my original post went, but just did this again on my second PC (Win 7 Ultimate) and it is now ready to install.
Confirmed -- you can put this -- Solved Original imageres.dll file needed -- in C:\Windows\System32\ with a name like imageres-win8.dll and replace the boring flat icons.
These new icons stink :P
Look like they could have been in Windows 3.1 other than the transparency. Are these embedded in the shell, or can they be customized by pulling the icons from the...
No offense taken. It worked great here on my PC and my Samsung Ativ laptop from Windows 8.1.
I had this error yesterday. Tried these steps this morning, and solved my 80240020 errors.
Don't see the upgrade? Try this...worked for me! - Windows 10 Forums
jimbo45 -- Right. Thanks for the clarification. This is for the upgrade from Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 through Windows Update. I was in the insider program, but only installed one early build to test...
