Old?! I thought the ZxR was still their flagship card, and that the AE-5 was more for gaming!? Oh well, thx for the re-assurance, though. I really don't need fancy stuff: just excellent audio.
I think Dolby Atmos not working is actually a documented bug of the 1903 release of Windows 10 (and very surprisingly, not Creative's fault, this time).
Also, out of mere curiosity, why go optical...
I recently bought a Creative Sound Blaster ZxR. Reading this forum here, and others, I'm already beginning to regret that decision, LOL, as the driver situation is apparently dismal (so bad even, I...
As expected, SFC reported "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations."
I'm really suspecting Partition Assistent, which transformed my MBR to GPT. Can't prove it, though;...
I did a routine CHKDSK on my C: drive (SSD), in Windows 10, 64-bit. Got this beauty:
"chkdsk /scan" is aborting due to corruption found in the $Boot file.
"chkdsk /f" will be required to repair...
I'm experiencing the exact same problem as the OP! After the (Windows 10 Pro) Anniversary Update, I saw one of my scheduled tasks hadn't been run in a day or so (it needs to every 30 mins). So I...
It's on onboard Marvell controller (P6X58D-Premium), not Intel.
Anyway, it doesn't look like Intel even has X58 chipset drivers for Windows 10 any more.
I'm also getting incredibly slow transfer speeds (up to where it's on 0 bytes/sec for ages). It's ridiculous, really. And I have a very fast system. Would be really nice if MS ever got their sh*t...
Well, that solves that then. :) Thx.
That makes sense. :) Thx. Guess I misunderstood you. Gonna give that a try.
Actually tried to create a new MS account, but is says '*If you already use a Microsoft service, go Back to sign in with that account.' And my existing account is tied to my Office 365, PST folders,...
Creating a new local account is, essentially, like starting Win 10 from scratch (with clean desktop and nothing installed under it). And what does 'convert to a Microsoft account' even mean?! So,...
How do I run the Win 10 app store in admin mode?! Or even find it!? Getting a very persistent 0x80070005 error; and, as usual nobody at the MS site gives sh*t. :) Seriously, though, I want to run the...
Thanks! :) I created an Ubuntu Live USB, and was able to remove the old directory, no sweat! :) Probably should have done this right off the bat, instead of continuing to muck around with the Windoze...
I must admit I'm not that familiar with how to mount an NTFS disk under Linux. (Been running a FreeBSD server for years, but that didn't include adding Windoze disks).
Thanks for your reply. :)
I tried all of that before (and much more); but the problem is always a "File not found" error when it hits the 'shellext ' folder. Like
takeown /f "shellext " /r /D...
The trailing shellext folder has an empty space at its end, and is actually called "shellext ". But it can't be renamed/removed. Like
rd /s "shellext\ "
The system cannot find the file...
C'mon, guys, where are the experts here?! :)
Near as I can tell, it's the last 'shellext' dir that cannot be found:
D:\Users\Me\AppData\Local>cacls Microsoft /L /T /G Everyone:F
Are you sure (Y/N)?y
processed dir:...
Hmm, nobody knows?
How do I remove my old Win 7 Users directory? Like:
D:\Users\Me\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Virtualized\C\Users\Me\AppData\Roaming\Dropbox\shellext
Win 7 is already...
I think MS has resolved to forcibly pushing Win 10 now on all old Win7 users. So, it's no longer a choice.
Personally, can't believe no one has ever sued them over this, but I suppose that's...
Now it's really solved. :) Needed to go thru quite a few hoops; but I needed to remove inheritance from it. Now it's gone.
Strange. Only file I can't remove is
D:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash\Flash64_21_0_0_182.ocx
