Installed this update this morning ... no major problems .... But something is off .... windows thinks it needs to reboot in order to install this update, even though I have rebooted several...

I need to report back and outline how this has been going .. I did NOT do another clean install ... I decided to try and find the causes... So after the last repair install, I ran into some strange...

One more thing... Windows needs access to the Internet to activate... but it will also immediately begin installing it's version of video and sound drivers.. what should I do about that ?

This morning, it booted normally..... I reinstalled NIS using the Norton uninstall/reinstall tool.... That went fine.... system rebooted fine ... checked for updates in NIS and it downloaded 79mb of...

Any help is appreciated. .. the original upgrade was a clean install... followed by problems shortly after Norton went in.. that prompted my repair install after SFC couldn't fix the bad files.. Fast...

Ok .... I did as suggested above and got a smooth, relatively trouble free upgrade to Windows 10 x64 ... runs great.... Except now, for the first time ever, I am getting an intermittent BSOD on boot...

I have had this issue with image files but successfully fixed these issues by right clicking on the file..select open with.. then select the program you want making sure you chk the box always use...

This really got my attention.. So I followed the above advice.. to the letter... even ran driver uninstaller after the entire uninstall process and it found more files and deleted them ... BUT !!!...

Same here only it changed my .png and. Jpeg associations to photo from my IrfanView .. no big deal to fix

Interestingly I noticed a couple of Win 7 optional updates available this morning that the K articles implied the updates improved the upgrade to Win 10...

So doing the repair reinstall won't achieve the same results as a clean install.. Correct ?
