What is this opera crap? Every time I try to get to Amazon, it shows up and overrides everything else on my monitor. How do I get rid of it?
Recently I got a new external modem. Soon after it was installed and activated, I began experiencing issues with the internet going out for a few seconds at a time. When it comes back up, I'm still...
About once a day, usually while I'm gaming on Facebook, the whole computer just stops dead. Nothing works, including the mouse. The only way to get out of it is to shut off the computer and reboot....
Note: The version of Malwarebytes on my computer is one that I paid for.
I also have 360 on the computer. Is that the Windows one? Malwarebytes seems to flag it everytime it updates. Second question, should I remove the Malwarebytes or just ignore it?
Is a Malwarebytes a good program to have, or a bad one. It seems to claim it's blocking PUP sites when I'm on my local weather station or when Edge is trying to switch to another site like Facebook...
Okay, I'll take care of it. That operation I know how to do. Thanks to everyone for the help.
I have not uninstalled PowerMedia. Do you think I should?
I have played DVDs on the computer before. There always has been some issues with getting them to play, but this is the first time I've had this much trouble. I'll try another DVD later and see what...
I got VLC to come up, but then the PowerMedia came up 3 more times and prevented anything from playing. When I tried to open the DVD entry to play it, It gave me a choice of options. I clicked on...
Is the Windows PowerMedia Player supposed to do anything? The one in my computer never plays any DVDs and if I try to close it, it reboots my computer. It also won't let me use any other media player...
I moved the speakers forward on the shelf they are on, and made sure they are not touching each other. Interesting, the farther apart they are, the louder the music is.
The speakers plug in to the back of the computer and are powered by the computer. This just started within the last 24 hours, wasn't a problem before that. Do you suppose the onset of really cold air...
When my speakers are turned off, even when I'm not online, I seem to be getting music coming from them. Am I picking up radio traffic, or is there something else going on? It goes away if I turn the...
Okay, the new external drive is installed and seems to be working. That's for all the help. We can mark this case as closed.
Tried to install the new CD drive I bought. It was supposed to be an external drive, but it's actually an internal drive I have no skill to install. So, back to the store I go to see if they can get...
Spunk, the CD I burned earlier was a CD-RW, clearly marked on it. I was able to finish burning it today. The drive seems to work, but not all the time. I bought a new external drive and will try that...
Here's an update. I put in the CD I burned to yesterday. It's a CD-RW, and the CD opened so I could see the contents. When I tried to add more content, it froze up the drive and then refused to...
Just put in a document CD that was burned on a previous computer. It acknowledged that the CD was there, and showed a list of contents, but when I tried to open a file, it came up with "Not...
It played the last DVD I put in it, but isn't accepting the music CD I just put in. I did buy the disc cleaner. It's made for DVD players but is supposed to clean computers as well. We'll see.
Okay, I DL and installed some new drivers. I was just able to read one CD and burn to a new one, altho' a third disc didn't work. For the moment I seem to be fine. I will look into the CD cleaner...
That is much easier to understand. I'll look into a driver cleaner while I'm out this afternoon, I will be near a store that sells such things anyway.
Is there a simpler solution? I read thru the checklist and understood none of it. It was written by computer experts for computer experts.
The device manager lists a DVD/CD drives, I assume that's it. No, it does not make in sound when I put a disc in, it just says insert a disc and then the drawer opens again. It hasn't worked right...
My E drive will not read CDs or allow me to burn to any new ones. Where do I go to check and see what the settings are, and what should that be set at?
