Is there a way to restore the default Program Settings for Exploit Protection without resorting to extreme methods like Resetting Windows or System Restore? Maybe someone with a fresh Windows can...
Thanks for confirming.
Cool.
Googling reveals various user reports that this stopped working since Windows update v1809, including our own forum: Windows 10 October 2018 Update rollout now paused
All the tweaks I've applied so far have been manual ones (most of which are thanks to your tutorials ;)). The only 3rd party app that remotely deals with Explorer I run is 7+ Taskbar Tweaker, but I...
I'm always on desktop and confirmed Tablet Mode is off. I recently reinstalled Windows from refresh too, although I don't know if any of the endless tweaks I've applied so far may have caused it to...
I can't get this to work to disable the wide menu. I even tried running the .bat file as admin, restarted File Explorer, and confirmed the ImmersiveContextMenu value is 0.
I've read that this no...
I just like to point out there's a bug with the High performance plan: if I create a custom plan based on this plan then reduce the Minimum processor state from 100% to any lower number, my CPU...
I use DataVac electric dust blower, but if that's over your budget you can use compressed air cans, which isn't as good: Why you should never blow dust out of your PC with an air compressor
It's...
My laptop used to throttle similarly. The other symptom was the erratic fan. It returned to normal from 40 to 30 degrees on idle after blowing out the dust. When did you last clean out your laptop?
Found the "fix": grant Local Activation permission to the Users group. It completely eliminates the event errors. This is probably not recommended from a security standpoint, but it's certainly...

Hmm....now that you mentioned it I notice the same. It more accurately occurs each time Chrome launches, not on Windows startup. For me, the first Runtime Broker is the correct one...
Well....I'm a bit stumped. I completed the manual method like in the past and it works for the most part in eliminating all Event ID 1006 errors, except for one that always loads on startup/reboot. ...
Thanks. Fixed. I prefer the old fashion, slow method. Funny how I had the errors back in the earliest builds, then the Anniversary Update fixed it for me, now it's back on Fall Creators Update.
It only took Microsoft over 2 years to report they acknowledged this error, only to inform that we should ignore it .

I don't use those apps nor plan to in the future, so I guess I'll just leave the Store app alone, but disable auto-updates. Thanks, Shawn :)
By "built-in" apps do you mean the pre-installed ones like 3d Builder, App Installer, etc. that can only be uninstalled via 3rd party tools and PowerShell through your other tutorial or even deeper...
One thing I've always been curious about but never asked is whether the Store also checks for updates for the Settings app itself, or whether they only exist via Windows Update. I never use any...
Will this serve any use for a single user account? The screenshots in this tutorial remind me of each major version update (e.g. Anniversary Update --> Creators Update --> Fall Creators Update,...
Hi Shawn.
The default setting is with the checkbox not ticked (i.e. ConfirmationCheckBoxDoForAll value is 0), but your reg files have the reversed effect.
I also have the same problem and thanks to this video I found the solution. It reminded me of ctfmon.exe, which I removed from startup. However, I still don't need it and also remember there's a...
If one wanted to fully disable superfetch on SSD shouldn't it also be disabled in the registry too?:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory...
That setting was never enabled in my File Explorer, so unfortunately not a solution for me.
Good to know this problem is not something specific to my PC and that it has been there since the beginning. For me, it seems to manifest whenever the application like File Explorer is maximized.
Thanks for reminding me of this method. It's the only guaranteed one that's worked since Windows 7 (perhaps earlier). Although the guide states to also drop the file to %SystemRoot%\System32\, but...
