There is a facility to uninstall Edge via Revo Pro although whether this impacts anything else with the OS I have no idea. I use FF and have just unpinned Edge off the toolbar.
I'm using both 10 and 11. In 11 there is no need to unstall it. Just use Firefox and unpin Edge from the toolbar.
You've got to admit though that the advert has that 'sexy' look talking about 'immersing yourself....'. Goodness it's only an OS!!!
I only went back as I preferred the UI on 10 and the fewer mouse clicks. Yes, yes, I know it's a couple here and there and placing stuff in different areas but frankly couldn't be bothered. Plus...
And it will be interesting times if/when MS do pull the plug.
After the registry hack - go and download the MS 11 ISO. Right click and mount it then run setup all from within Explorer. It should then upgrade your machine keeping all files and settings in place...
That's not going to stop folks 'upgrading' to 11 if they wish and plenty have done so with non-compliant machines with 11 updates still working. No doubt MSoft could go nuclear on the updates but so...
I upgraded my main rig to 11 and after several days I really couldn't see the point (for me). So went back to 10.
My laptop is running 11 and again cannot see the point of 11 over 10. Obviously...
Reporting in - updated one compatible laptop to 11 - all well. Tried updating my main rig via ISO - all well, programs, etc until after boot time. Nothing on the taskbar - totally unresponsive....
Yes I know but it shouldn't be necessary to invite a third party program to the party.
I installed it on a non-compliant i7-7x and 11 worked fine. But, and it is a big BUT, I fail to see any reason to change to my main rig which is compliant. Now there may be hidden benefits but...
Agreed and I wish MS had waited until all the 'goodies' were available - like Android apps for example. And why the necessity for 4 clicks to get to something when with 10 it was say 2 is beyond me....
Agreed the learning curve is not difficult but still cannot see the point (for me) to make the jump. From what I've seen running Win11 on my spare non-compliant laptop there's really nothing there....
Really all depends on how valuable your data is to you - whether it is media files, documents, etc. The good thing about MR and AOMEI which is often mentioned is that you can take a simple snapshot...
Anything to give the hardware retailers a little helping hand then.
MS should have sorted this before release or held back until they did. There are already plenty of folks not best pleased that their i7-7700k for example fails the CPU test so this irritation just...
I'm in the waiting area and staying with 10. Have 11 running on a spare machine and (for me) there's no reason to jump and like many others, simply cannot be bothered to rearrange those deckchairs to...
Good thinking - thank you and I hadn't delved into the other settings. All I would need to do is schedule a daily start time.
Again - many thanks
Thanks for responding. I use FreeFileSync from my main PC to the laptop and a good program it is. What I'm after is one that does not delete older files with newer ones. Occasionally I've obtained...
Have tried File History in the past and it was well slow. Backing up to a NAS system the write speed was in the region of 200Mbps according to task manager. So the first backup took literally a...
MS may think that non-compatible machines are outdated junk to sop up the the hardware suppliers but they are (as usual) mistaken.
Maybe a minority will feel the need to go out and spend their...
Think that's always been the case
Using 10 Home so no GPEdit. No big deal as only see it maybe once a week but is there another way of doing this.
Maybe MS will start using the space to promote their hardware soon!!! - LOL
Running both and just my opinion - I think users should seriously consider if there is anything they actually want from Win11 that they haven't already got with 10.
A clean install is always the...
