Currently I have a dual boot system with Win 7 and Win 10. I want to remove Windows 7 from my main drive. Since I want to do that, I thought I'd completely redo my system by formatting all my drives...

This is the first time I've had it happen.... and I've never heard of it happening before...



I don't know if it would have been in sleep mode or not, but I do know I was clicking on...

I finally got Windows 10 Pro to install a few days... and for the fews days just watched to see if anything stopped working or if Windows stayed activated.

Sorry, I forgot to include this pic when I last posted... This is what I have.... and it is 32 bit..

I have reinstalled Win8, updated, installed Added Features, updated, installed Media Center, updated, then upgraded to Win8.1 and did all final updates... and Windows stayed activated, like it...

I have already reinstalled win8... I am just updating now... I will update to 8.1 afterwards.. Then update again... BTW is there any point to installing media center since I'm told win10 removes it??

That is what I thought, because it's never been a problem before... but it was the only change I made...

Also, and I just thought of it... Someone told me to unplug any other hard drives I have connected before upgrading... so that it was I did... after the upgrade, I plugged everything back in.......

I think that is what I am going to do. I will reinstall Windows 8 then upgrade it through the store to 8.1 again (it's been a while). Then reactivate it.




To answer your questions in order...

I was finally able to upgrade Windows 8.1 Pro to Windows 10... All went perfectly until Windows told me it was not activated, which went smoothly...

After rebooting Windows 10 again said it was...

You're right, I did a clean install on a new partition.... Could I just re-install Windows 8/8.1 on the new partition, run the upgrade for Win10, then format the partition, then do a clean install??

No I didn't do an Upgrade, I installed using the custom setting.... The Iso was downloaded using the Media CreationTool..

I downloaded and burned to DVD Win10 ... I did a clean install onto another partition which went fairly well....

But I ran into a few problems I hope someone can help with...

When I put my cursor up to the top right corner of my screen, shouldn't the charms bar appear? or was it removed?

Have a look in "Ease of Access Center" - Make the computer easier to see - Last item "Remove background images.

Unticked, will show watermark. ticked, All gone
