I didn't do anything special to solve it. But the problem stopped when I updated my Office 2010 to Office 2013 , , , :D :)
So, apparently it is an Office 2010 on W10 issue.

You can put the check mark there but it still keeps asking the next time you click the link or another that uses the same app.
That is correct. Neither 'fix' worked in my case, and I did double-check both to make sure that the changes 'stuck'.
Whoops. See now that you confirmed it yourself.
I downloaded the "Disable_New_App_Installed_Notification.reg" file and ran it. I assume that made the necessary registry change as I do have that value in the registry.
Same here. The registry edit did not work, but the Group Policy fix seems to have done the job. Thanks for the tip!!

Happened on my wife's PC also.
I went to the Microsoft web site, got into the Windows 10 section, and upgraded from there by following the instructions for "if you are in a hurry" or something...
