Unfortunately there wasn't any other solution that is why they gave me a win 10 key. I did ask them what the problem was but they didn't know the answer. Your best shot is to contact them via live...

I was always able to do a clean install but couldnt upgrade hence no activation. But now with a windows 10 key it works totally fine.
