Event ID 7 - Harddisk has a Bad Block

    Hi,
After installing latest W10 Update - Build 447, I am getting random errors in >Event viewer : ID 7, \Device\Harddisk0\DR0, has a bad block.

I did run CHKDSK but everything is OK, and I am quite sure there is nothing wrong with HDD Hardware, the HDD is only 2 years old.

Also, Windows seems more sluggish .

Grab a test program for your disk from it's manufacturer's site and/or Hard Disk Sentinel and test with those. It will check HW side too, namely SMART table. HDD can die at any time or get damaged, age of it is no guarantee.

    Hi CountMike,
    Thank you.

I doubt very much, HDD is failing or there is something wrong with it.
I just restored a 1607.351 Image and Bad Block error does not show up.
I did run CHKDSK and no Bad Block found or any other error at all.

It is update 447, in my both PC, completely different from each other even one is x86 the other x64, after Update I got at once a BSOD.
This HDD error just began immediately after Update, I looked at the time stamp and the first error came with the time of Install the Update.

Yes, could have been a "SW error", a file write has been interrupted or stopped before it was checked and flagged with it's sum. I would still check SMART though.

I did look at S.M.A.R.T. , every thing "Healthy".

That's good. I take a look with it on all drives periodically. Few month ago an almost brand new 2TB Hitachi suddenly developed weak sectors so it got relegated to secondary backup with those sectors that were in a bunch isolated by partitioning around them. It's still in same condition but why gamble with it ?

After 24h running the 1607.351 build, I did not get one single Bad Block error. So, I think there is something wrong with build 447.
