100% Disk Usage: Have attempted numerous steps with no success
I have a Toshiba Laptop with an Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-5200U CPU @ 2.20GHz processor, Intel(R) HD Graphics 5500 graphics card, 4.0 GB of RAM, and Microsoft Windows 10 (build 10586), 64-bit operation system. Here is what I have attempted to solve the 100% Disk issue:
1.) Run anti-virus and anti-malware software
2.) I have disabled Windows Search
3.) Disabled Superfetch
4.) Disable the Flash plugin for Chrome (I only use Chrome)
5.) During the most recent spike I noticed that "System and Compressed Memory" correlated with a spike, as I noticed it increase and decrease with the spike. Under performance options -> Visual Effects -> I have selected "Adjust for best performance", and under the Advanced tab -> Virtual Memory: Change -> I have unchecked "Automatically manage paging file size for all drivers".
None of these have worked and I am at a loss. I do not download that many things to my computer. All I really do with this computer is use MySQL, R, and Excel. I do not download macro's for excel as I know VBA and can do it myself. All packages installed by R are from trusted sources. My relational database is only local as it is only for personal use. Any help would be much appreciated.
