    Why System & Compressed Memory is using 20% cpu ?

    I noticed the C P U fan spinning @ 5950 rpm and decided to consult the task manager.
    The System & Compressed Memory is using 20% of the cpu. Why ?
    Thank you.

    Hi, this has been discussed a number of times, and you will find useful information if you search the forum using the white search box above and enter
    System & Compressed Memory

    There is no one answer- several have been noted, so I can't tell you definitively, I'm afraid.

    You'll find a couple of answers common to some, and you'll find some struggling with technical analysis to try to identify what's happening in their particular case.

    Please make a note of what you try, and post back either that or what worked for you if you find a solution. Good luck.

    System & Compressed Memory is a not a process that can be ended on the task manager (disable for this process) ;
    for a couple of hours this process occupied 24% , then by itself (I have not closed any application) it went nearly to zero ; a couple of minutes ago I realized the cpu fan was in high rotation once again and there it was syst. and comp. mem. using 24%.
    I noticed that many people has the trouble of ram memo overuse but not CPU. Thank you for your post.

    Hi, I never suggested trying to end that process. I did point you to how you can find threads that contain answers people have found. Here's the search I recommended... please try it.

    Hi , I know you did not suggest to end this process and I did not state you did it. Perhaps we misunderstood each other.
    Thank you very much.
