Error 0x800f081f when using DISM tool

    Hello,

Windows 10 power user here. I've been viewing help topics here for some time and found this forum very useful. However, there is one problem that I can't seem to solve.

Whenever I use the DISM tool to repair Windows 10, I get the error "0x800f081f - The source files could not be found".

I tried the ESD, WIM and ONLINE options using a mounted Windows 10 installation ISO, and pointed to it correctly in the command (I followed Brink's tutorial). However, I get the same error. I don't understand why DISM cannot find it if it is running with administrative privileges, and I can CLEARLY see the file in Explorer. I also tried copying the .esd and .wim file to Desktop. Again, the same error. I also tried turning off all firewalls temporarily but to no avail.

    Here is my dism.log file.

    Code:

Did you do a SFC /Scannow to see if any errors show up as that also repairs or trys to repair it
If not you may find you have to do an inplace upgrade you will find both links in my signature below this post

The thing is, I already ran sfc /scannow, and my Windows 10 was freshly installed just a few days ago. DISM has never worked a single time

Thanks guys. It turns out that DISM doesn't work with the ISO from Media Creation Tool. I (was supposed to) used the one from TechBench and it worked.

Hello. I'm having similar problems, but I cannot seem to find any link for a download from TechBench. I've found links, but they are all broken/404'd now, I figured because most were from last year, and perhaps Microsoft has changed something since Windows 10 is now no longer offering free upgrades (I upgraded from Win 7 just a few days ago).

Can you (or anyone) tell me where to find an ISO that will work with the DISM RestoreHealth method?

If there's any additional information I can provide that would be useful I'm happy to oblige.

    Cheers

The Tech Bench link has been dead for a couple of days. I guess it's because Windows 10 is no longer freely available. I've used the program 'SFCFix', and it works really well. I've gotten DISM to work with an ESD version of the ISO.
