    Windows 10 exceptionally slow

I'm having a problem with windows functioning properly. It's extremely slow, takes a long time to load a program, sometimes so long I give up. Some programs I can't open at times. Is Windows experiencing a problem with functionality in this regard? With programs not opening, opening very slow? Yesterday, Sunday, I gave up trying to open two programs. I get this error on shutting down. Please explain it to me. It stated, " task host windows stopping background tasks"? Another message went by so fast I may have misread it, it stated, " CLM(may be incorrect) windows preventing shutdown". Anyway, any help would be appreciated.

I would recommend upgrading your computer to an SSD. I had issues with speed when I first upgraded to Win10 and it would take 2 minutes (or more) to fully boot and be ready to actually use. I cloned the old mechanical drive onto a SSD and it ran faster than the day I bought it...and this is a 6 year old laptop!

Do it...it just works...Oh and I recommend Samsung solid state drives. They also come with fully functional cloning software that actually is FREE and actually WORKS!

How to fill out System Specs for tenforums.

See here: System Specs - Fill in at Ten Forums

Of major interest is the Manufacture and full model number of the computer if purchased or the system board if custom built.

SSDs are pretty good performance wise but my old SATA2 mechanical drive had no trouble in booting w10 in 1 minute or so. Check that your drivers are up to date and they aren't "vanilla" versions.

OK, thanks for the input. We subscribe to a service that repairs and does upkeep on computers. I had him come on board and he took about an hour and found several things that needed to be changed. Since then the problems have subsided, I can live with the speed. It's crazy how you do nothing but settings seem to change and you need help.
