MS illegally deleted all restore points after update

I never gave Microsoft permission to delete my restore points yet after an update MS took it on themselves to delete all my restore points. They claim they do this because the old restore points are not comparable with the new version but I rolled back the OS version to 1709 and still my restore points which are files I created and are my personal property did not show back up. Microsoft is illegally keeping my personal files from me. How do I fix this?

It's a brand new 1000 dollar gaming machine. If I cannot get this fixed and stop windows from trying to update itself when it is NOT broken and insists on doing things it does not have my permission to do I'm going to have to go back to an unregistered copy of Windows 8 or switch to Linux. This is Freaking Unthinkable!

If you can help me get my restore points back Next I'll have to stop windows from updating. I know this is no longer possible from within the OS settings so I'll have to use a 3rd party option - which 3rd party option works?

Will Shadow Defender or Rollback RX help me do this or do you have a better solution? (I know how they work I've used them in the past - I want to sandbox the hell out of the system so update Cannot connect to the internet)

Firewalls are Supposed to be able to do this too but I can't find any that's not in bed with Microsoft that would allow this.

I didn't ask for a free new OS every 6 months, don't want it don't need it - Does Microsoft constantly update an Xbox? No they don't. They don't have to because it's a gaming machine. So is my PC a gaming machine. It should be MY choice to update if I believe it needs updating. I looked at the forced update before I shut the PC down last night, it wanted to install New features even though it's told Not to in settings. If something broke and needed an update perhaps I can see the need for it but thats not the case here. In 20 years of using windows Nothing has Ever Broken to the point I need an update to fix it.

I do use Marcium Reflect to ghost the machine but that's not a fast nor practical solution for everyday use when you have hundreds of gigabytes of games installed.

I'd install Everything besides the OS on an external drive but you Can't even do that in windows 10 now because the os wants to have things where It wants them installed - they have taken away that Right also. An OS has ONE job and thats to run what I tell it when I tell it - Nothing else is allowed.

I won't reply to any more posts like the one above. Either you have possible solutions for my two problems above or I'll ignore you.

I would suggest to you that you read The Windows 10 EULA-All of it. Restore points are useless, not reliable and take up disk space. Macrium Reflect Free is a great tool to use ti Image your system.

If I got the restore points back they Should work because I have rolled back the version that it was before I went to bed. The claim by microsoft is that they got rid of the restore points because they didn't work with 1803 but now that i have 1709 Back those restore points should still work - as If the 1803 update was Never installed.

How ridiculously dramatic using terms like "illegally".

Of course they are deleted - restore points only work on the build they are made. It makes NO SENSE WHATSOEVER to retain restore points from a previous build.

Instead of being rude (as you have been) to those who replied, TAKE their good advice and learn how to make image backups and how differental backups work!

It's not Microsoft's responsibility to keep your data safe - it's your responsibility.

When you accepted the End Users License Agree to use Windows 10 you accepted this:

"6. Updates. The software periodically checks for system and app updates, and downloads and installs them for you. You may obtain updates only from Microsoft or authorized sources, and Microsoft may need to update your system to provide you with those updates. By accepting this agreement, you agree to receive these types of automatic updates without any additional notice."

You signed up for it.

A couple of terms have been used/are being used that would apply here. One is SaaS or Software as a Service and the other is WaaS or Windows as a Service. The way Win10 is working brings back memories of Windows 98 and a major Upgrade to it called Windows 98 SE/Second Edition which importantly gave us ICS/Internet Connection Sharing and support for USB 2 Drivers for such devices. ICS was important for 2 computers using the Dial-Up Modem in one and connecting a second through it [before broadband/cable and DSL].

Amazing how many of you people failed to notice I already addressed the Macrium Reflect image backup as Not being a viable option for frequent backups when you have gigabytes of large files installed.

Stupid argument. They give me the OPTION within 10 days of an update to rollback to the previous version - why would they also not restore the restore points that Do work with that version - Fella your not making sense.

I found a way to Stop All forced MS Updates even getting Group Policy Editor to work in Windows 10 Home Edition. No thanks to anyone here, Now all I need are my ILLEGALLY deleted Restore Points undeleted.
