Yes, with Differentials that would work.
Differentials include all changes since the Full Backup, they do not depend on any prior Diff's.
With Incrementals, if any Incremental made since the Full Backup is corrupt or missing, any Incremental after that will not work.
Incremental backups include only the changes since the previous Incremental.
One thing you might consider,
Setup a small partition for testing, then you can create backups of that partition quickly.
Make changes to that partition, create full and diffs of it.
Then you can test backup and restoring, learn how it works, and is it reliable for you.
It won't be a "critical" partition, just a test/learning partition, so the OS will not be affected.
I have a small 5 GB "Portable Apps" partition that works well for me to test this stuff.
It takes less than 2 minutes for a Full backup, and a Diff runs in about 30 seconds.
It also tests if my portable programs still work, without affecting the [C] OS drive.
I have a very good solution to the question asked here. Let me start by explaining the reason you are being required to backup a drive other than c:
This happens because you either have software installed on another drive (switch to portable software when storing on another drive and you avoid this dilemma), or you are keeping temp files on another drive. So, you have two choices to get around this.
1) You can uninstall everything from that drive and move temp folders back to c:
or
2) You can trick Windows by bringing that drive offline just before beginning the backup process.
The preferable method to do this trick is to bring the disk offline. This can be done in disk management by right clicking on the smaller box for the disk located to the left of the larger rectangular box of your partition. However, in some cases depending on your disk layout you will not be given this option. In that case, right click the partition you want to temporarily disable and select change drive letter - then select remove. The reason the first method is preferable is because it does not expose you to any possible arrangement issues with your partitions and windows later on. I won't go into that, because it's rather complicated and boring. Hope this helps.

You just missed a 20% off recently. They put them up on this forum and generally every few months I have 4 computers so I buy a 4 pack price break there too. I haven't had a failure to restore since I bought in a few years ago. Much better than ghost was and well supported
