i just had this same problem again as in my first post - my desktop PC went into an Automatic repair on cold boot after being powered off overnight. It's now fine after I switched it off at the mains for a minute and powered on again. sfc /scannow and chkdsk run fine. I was upgrading a few programs and printer drivers yesterday before turning off which may have triggered something? Otherwise I'm mystified. maybe its time for a clean install since this installation goes back to Window 8 4 years ago.

I had a look at Intel SSD Toolbox and was surprised to see the high Unexpected Power Loss / Unsafe shutdown count of 861 - see screenshot? The PC shuts down fine and all lights go off so I assume this is due to the fact that I turn off off the power switch at the end of the day?
