You can set up a shortcut to the program and right click the shortcut to select properties, on the compatibility tab you can check the box to "Run this program as an administrator".

Edit: David beat me to it!!

Note: even though you are already logged in as an administrator, ticking this box makes a difference and seems to open up the permissions for writing to certain system folders.

I would honestly be shocked if there were any.

Also, should mention that Windows System Restore is likely not going to fix the issue. It's going to affect system files, configs, etc. If you're looking for a program that captures your computer in its complete state you may want to try disk imaging (i.e. Acronis True Image, Macrium Reflect) or even a Snapshot tool (i.e. Comodo Time Machine, Rollback Rx)

Isn't a "windows. old" file created automatically at upgrade? OP states "a couple of weeks ago" so he should be able to roll back, no?
I thought windows.old is used to convert back to the previous version of Window prior to the Windows 10 update.

Thanks philc43. I was able to accomplish that.
