Reinstall did the trick for me. Thanks for the link.

Reinstall the whole OS?! I managed to fix it by using the Winfix 10 tool in the end, but I am very disappointed that Win10 is so wobbly. I still cannot change the fonts on the windows as it will not allow change from Arial to Times, weird....

Glad you could get it to work. I look at that "tool" as invasive junk and will not install it.

All I can say is that it worked. Some suggested above downloading the ISO tool to create a boot disc, do you use that?

Making the ISO disk is exactly what I did.

OK, well I have to download the software first, and then have a go. Being on satellite internet means I have a data limit......

I am on cable - took about two minutes, runs at 60 meg a second. Do the math with your download speed and you can estimate how long a time you will have to invest in it. Only the download uses bandwidth/time. I also have used the disk to bail me out of a nagging problem on my laptop - which was 8.1.

Truth be told, I should have left Win 7 and Win 8.1 in place. But, that is water over the dam now.

Yes, couldn't disagree with that; should have left Win7 on the machine. Never mind.....
