Yeah, I was unable to boot at all. I would get the Asus screen when I press the power button, the little thing would spin and spin and spin and then get the blue screen. After the checkup was done, the computer rebooted itself and the cycle continued.

I don't have an installation disc or USB to clean install from. Doesn't Windows 8 and 10 have it built in? Should I make an installation USB/disc right now? I thought about it after this power failure, but I don't know how good it will be if I it's acting bad right now.

I remember I did do a BIOS update when updating to Windows 10, it was in the Asus website.

As for the graphics card, I have both, the NVIDIA and the Intel.

This upcoming week is my school's spring break, I might try to go ahead and do a clean install, see if it will help with anything. Should I create an image backup? Will that ruin the whole clean install thing? Restoring from an image. I don't mind reinstalling all of the software, but I wouldn't like to, however if it means the computer will be fixed (or at least have a shot at it), I will do it.

Thank you for all of your time again, you've been extremely helpful. I don't get how no one else has a problem like this, it's not like I'm a developer and mess with the OS. It's weird.

O.k., your most welcome for the help !
So no second monitor was hooked up as said saw something in Device manager about Generic PnP Monitor this would be Plug n Play device.

Did you do a clean install after the upgrade to Windows 10, because i see your Laptop was original to Windows 8.1 64bit ?
Can download the ISO and either burn to a DVD or make a bootable USB Flash Drive. Try to boot off Windows Media to get to Advanced options to troubleshoot this issue further with all else going on i wonder if would be best to try a clean install instead of a refresh of Windows 10 or go back to Windows 8.

How long has it been since yo upgraded to Windows 10 ? Few BIOS updates listed to know which one you did have to enter BIOS.
Assume then Laptop is then using NVIDIA Display Adapter as primary graphics.

Myself i am not familiar with image backups by using programs like Macrium Reflect or Acronis True Image, many on here who are better at this then me to suggest it. Image backups are good if do not want to go through adding all software back, updates and settings after a issue.

I can give you link for ISO so you can download it and make what i said, always good to have anyway in situations when may need to boot from it to repair or recover.

Do you have another PC or Laptop to download with and burn a disc or does your Laptop not have a DVD Drive, then can make a USB Drive ?

Edit: i see the Laptop has a Optical drive. So you can make a Disc within Windows right click the downloaded ISO and select burn to disc, use a DVD.

    https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/9...d.html#option1
Option #1 ,but you can use the other option if you prefer. All versions are on the ISO Home and Pro, make sure to choose 64bit.

If prefer making a USB Flash Drive look here https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/2376-usb-flash-drive-create-install-windows-10-a.html

To be able to boot from the disc an option just as ASUS logo comes to select the boot menu and then select the drive (e.g. optical, DVD Drive) that the disc is in, believe yours is a UEFI BIOS so will state UEFI DVD drive on boot menu list. I am not sure what key press gets you to this boot menu at ASUS Logo screen, be in manual or on screen. Could be F8, F9, F10,F12.

Need more answers before you proceed to do a clean install post back. If had a disc already as said could of tried troubleshooting in Advanced Options booting from the disc since you could not boot, either try a refresh or reset and even a system restore point or safe mode.

I had a second monitor plugged in at some point in time and I upgraded to Windows 10 not long after it came out.

I think I'll go with that suggestion and clean install Windows. I messed around with the registries and CLSID permissions to try to fix them, it wouldn't be such a bad idea to reset everything to default. Now should I clean install to Windows 8 or 10? I'm assuming 10 by the looks of your second post, but just making sure.

Reasons i asked how long has it been since you upgraded, if you never did a clean install before and your ASUS has a recovery partition this will be deleted on a Custom clean install, unless you use different method and keep that partition. Do you have Windows 8.1 media or recovery discs ? Activation will not be a problem since you were activated with Windows 10 just click skip when asked for the product key, if you do have any issue we can try or you can call MS it's a toll free number and automated , but it is rare you will have any issues on the same system.

I'm not sure about that. It did come with a D: drive (just C: partitioned) but it was called 'Data' and it is empty, I think. There is just 1 folder inside of it called 'msdownld.tmp' but inside of that it is empty. When I do a clean install should I add a D: drive? Should I put anything in there?

Do not worry about temp folder msdownload this can be deleted. You can keep the partitions that way, just follow the tips in # 12 here and this tutorial to show you how to keep the partitions you already have, as you will just format that C: partition and install Windows 10 on it.

You may or may not see this partition during the clean install since it is hidden i am not positive been awhile for me on this. Since you can not boot right now you need this ISO to do any kind of troubleshooting. Do not worry, you are not going to harm your Laptop and even if you decide to delete all partitions you can always add a partition afterwards.

Download the drivers pack now from ASUS before hand keep it on a flash drive. It's always good to use an external device (Hard Drive & USB Flash drive) for regular backups of important files and even think about using system image backups (Macrium Reflect).

Alright that sounds good to me. Thank you very much for all of your help, I really hope this clean install will work. I just have to find the external hard drive to back up all of the music and such and then I'll move on forward. Thank you very very much, appreciate your time and help.
