Being new to backing up files, can Bitlocker be enabled when doing a backup of a system or files?

No Bitlocker
I am unsure if this is applicable here, however, it is about security. I want to encrypt a drive and thought I would use Windows Bitlocker, I can't locate it on windows 10. Is there a substitute for bitlocker on Windows 10?
