    Hi,

    My friend,
Don't laugh. I know exactly what he is referring to.

Please follow this step and see for yourself.......
Start > Settings > System > Storage > click This PC > scroll down and locate Temporary files > What do you see ?
Click Temp files > write down the size of the temp files.
Now try to click the Delete Temporary files button.
It's going to tell you it will take some time and that come back a little later.
Give it say 30 min. Go back and see if any got deleted.
Well, I just did check that and the figures indicated by Win10 are completely off the wall. As in just impossible.

Congrats, you just discovered yet another "feature" of Win10 .

    Cheers,

I completely agree fdegrove!! But to be honest I didn't even know about this Storage setting area, until David pointed this out. Learn something new everyday. :)

Same here but "DiskCleanUp" is just as nuts as well:

Isn't it great to have a computer that just can not compute ?

    Hi,

The reason IE cache shows as empty is because it contains hidden files. So, at least to my "logic" it should not say a folder's empty when it clearly is not.

With hidden system files viewable, DiskCleanup is still off the mark though.

O well........... No wonder people are getting as confused as barking birds.

David, I got similar results with this. My Temp Files went from 3.1 GB to 3.4 GB. Very strange, but thank you for showing me this option.

My temp file started with 473 MB 30 min ago.
I clicked Delete button and 30 min later here is what I have now..............................................

Does anyone get a better result than mine ?

Look at post #30 on page 3 on here MS23. David shows you were you can check the size of your Internet cache, AND adjust its size. See what it is set to right now MS23, really does not need to be any bigger than say 200MB to 250MB

You can also run this Disk Cleanup command from your Command prompt (admin) and check everything on disk cleanup.
    copy and paste this....
    %SystemRoot%\System32\Cmd.exe /c Cleanmgr /sageset:65535 & Cleanmgr /sagerun:65535

This was set at 1024MB, so I lowered it to 250MB as recommended. Theres about 6000 files in the cache, but all are small. Thanks for your help.

Yes, it is IE, and the cache was set at 1024MB, so I lowered it to 250MB. Thanks.

OK, well, fair enough, and I appreciate your thought process, Mike. Unfortunately, I gotta hang things up for the night - still have sleep deficit from the holidays.

Just one thought - would like to hear what browser MS23's using and what their browser cache size is set at. I helped another user here once that had his system restore set at something like 300 GB and couldn't figure out what was taking up all that space until we ran across that setting.

OK, MS23. What is your System Protection set at? Check at Control Panel / System and Security / System / (on the left) Advanced system Settings / System Protection (tab) / Configure (with any drive having "Protection" ON). Check Current Usage and Max Usage? Never mind, OT, sorry.
