everytime i install something the program will ask where to install to an existing folder this is part of installshield. i see a folder named «????:????» well there is no folder named this on the C drive. I can not locate where it is. I have tried the registry and a search but nothing.
Hi, it sounds like the default installation path is corrupted.
Noted you're referring to Win 7: this forum is for Win 10...
You can check by opening a command prompt and typing/cut & paste
echo %ProgramFiles%
This may be like the string you quote.

I have (mine's a 64 bit OS)
ProgramFilesDir = C:\Program Files (x86)

ProgramW6432Dir = C:\Program Files
and amend as necessary.
