    Diagnosing 100% Disk usage?

I need some help diagnosing why my system disk is running at 100% without anything actually running.
I found multiple other threads about this, but none solved the problem for me and most "fixes" were actually unrelated and a coincidence.

My Anti Virus is not doing anything, windows update is not doing anything, and my disk is not defraging.

I would have never noticed this happening if it wasn't for long load times and reduced FPS in anything 3D. My mouse and keyboard even are lagging and hanging.
The disk feels like it's bottlenecking and I don't know what to do to fix it.

My system disk is at 100% and a constant write speed of 1-2 MB/s and a constant read speed of about 200KB/s.

Could anyone tell me how to diagnose what is using my disk 100% of the time?

What processes are using the disk as viewed from performance monitor?

The only thing with more than 0 MB/s is "System and compressed memory". That is using 0.1 MB/s.
I modified my Page file and the disk usage went back down to normal.

Can you share for the benefit of others how you "modified your page file"? I have a rough idea what this might be, but just to clarify for any1 else reading this with similar issue?

You can go to System properties, then Performance, in Advanced tab change virtual memory size.

brummyfan got it right in that post.

type "View Advanced System Settings" in the start menu search.
    Under "Performance" click settings.
    Go to the "Advanced Tab"
    Click "Change" under Virtual Memory.
Uncheck "Automatically Manage paging file size for all drives".
Select "Custom Size" and set I set Initial to my total ram amount in MB (8GB = 8000MB, 16GB=16000MB) and max to double that.

Not sure if that was the actual problem but I've not seen any massive system disk usage since that change.

Have done the same, and does seem to make considerable difference to stability

    Hard disk problem:
    Please see the following picture.
"Allow files on this drive to have contents indexed in addition to file properties."
You can uncheck it to decrease the hard disk read times. This feature sometimes makes hard disk busy as you mentioned. After this, go to servives.msc, search for Windows search and stop the service , then change it to manual or disable the service if you don´t use it. The best solution is to buy an ssd drive.

    Cheers
