I'm download the ISO now, I have a windows 8 ISO file but when I right click there's no option to mount, what software would I need to mount it or could I just burn ISO to DVD, I take it the link you provided will give me a install DVD with Windows 10 build 10586 which I could use for a clean install in the future.

    Thanks for your help

I had same problem after doing a clean install of the new build 10586.3.
Suggest you download the correct ISO here http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/techbench

After the download completes, right click the ISO and select Mount. In explorer whatever the drive number of the mounted ISO is use this command in Admin Command Prompt change the X to the mounted drive letter.

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /source:WIM:X:\Sources\Install.wim:1 /LimitAccess

If this is successful rerun this command at same open prompt

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Then same command prompt run sfc again
    sfc /scannow

Can reboot after, but let us know if can not fix remains.

Looks good, it fixed it. Done from ISO i told you to download ? Yes, you can use this for future clean install, also good to have this ISO, can burn to disc or create bootable USB Flash Drive.

Yes I mounted the ISO that I downloaded with Daemon tools. Just rebooted and it's the same, no Start Menu or Cortana. I'm just doing a second sfc/ scannow with finished with no errors:-

Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.

Is there anything else I can try?

I made you do this because of files it could not fix and error from DISM which it corrected, was not sure would fix this other issue but was worth a try and it did correct corruption in system files which is good. Many other posts with this similar issue most started with the other build. Safe mode did it work there ?

    Hello Again Guys,

I love Windows 10 but for me it's been the most unreliable O/S I've used and I go back to Windows 95 days. Microsoft took away the start menu we all loved in Windows 8, after 2 years we finally get it back but boy is it buggy.

Basically I have had start menu problems in the past but to cut a long story short I restored my PC back to a weekly image I do with True Image and the problem did not return, I installed Threshold 2 last Saturday and my PC ran fine, I used it last night without changing anything or getting any problems but I switched it on today and the first thing I notice is that some of the icons in the system tray which I set to be shown were hidden, I corrected that straight away.

Then I clicked on my windows icon to access the start menu and it's now not showing also Cortana does not work, apart from that the PC is normal. I can open the Calculator and Edge modern apps as I have the shortcuts on the desktop.

I have run SFC/ SCANNOW in safe mode and in normal mode and it tells me I have errors but they can not be fixed.

I'm so fed up with it now, unless I can find a fix I'm just going to live with it, I can access my start menu folders from file explorer and most of my most used programs have short cuts on the desktop.

Anyone else having similar problems and know of a fix?

    Thanks

    Tony
Tony why not look into professionally removing her or him meaning Cortina?

I have been very busy for months removing 100% Cortina professionally " without any minor or major after affects :)

Ps: Cortina removed on 56 units and still more to go for clients and personal friends and family

Private message me if you want to go down that road, Tony

No it doesn't work in safe mode but it does work in the other account I set up so it's some form of account corruption. I'll leave it for now and see if it sorts it's self out, if not I'll have to bite the bullet and do a format and reinstall.

    Thanks for your help
