    Any tools to diagnose PC

    Hello

Is there any tool available to diagnose Win 10 and PC behavior. System is erratic and sometime very slow. Last boot, I had access to Chrome, but the desktop , task bar and start button where unavailable for at least 5 minutes. And even after that respond to an asked task provide enough time to start a coffee

I did the SFC /Scannow. No problem reported

i think sfc /scannow is the microsoft placebo: whenever a user asks a question, send them on "go fetch" missions and report back .....
    like 'clean boot'.
my guess is DWM [desktop window manager] is taking a long time to come up because something is hogging resources - disk, or cpu, or memory. disk would be my first guess of the lot.
is this a new install or new upgrade?
have you checked device manager for any yellow ! marks on device drivers?

I wish someone would show me how to start resource monitor and/or Task Manager in Startup files, that is automatically. Not knowing that, as fast as you can at first sign of desktop take a look at Task Manager, full detail, disk activity and see if it is pegging 100% for like 3 minutes? not uncommon in Win10-world

Cognus, you could have access to the resource monitor using CTRL ALT DELETE combination

Click on the 100% and it should show you what uses the most resource.

I started using MalwareBytes about one month ago, and it realyl help to make my desktop start a lot faster after bootup.
It was taking way to long... and after MWB ok. After that I also added a new Samsung 500GB SSD, and also did a Clean 10 load, and faster, faster... Now from cold. turnon- reboot to MS login in 22 seconds...... and I am really happy about that.
    All be safe. Cliff M.

    Thanks Cliff for your input

I do execute Malware byte very often. Still done it this morning. Problem doesn't seem to be related to an external application
