Read this thread with interest as I have always used the Win Image backup. Downloaded and installed Macrium Reflect including making the WinPE based recovery system (saved onto a USB). First backup completed and verified and I am extremely pleased.

    Thanks everyone for recommendingt this.

    Anthony.

Make sure you download the FREE version and not the "Trial" version. Macrium works...

It is done off line using a Restore Disk from Macrium. I am talking about all of my programs and two games Ghosts is ~28 Gbytes and Advanced warfare is ~65 GBytes I also have CS 6.0 and other large programs. Just my music collection is 45 GBytes. Now I was wrong in that MR does not format the source drive but it deletes it if you want it to. I use the paid for version and from what I understand it scans the hard drive first and when it restores it, the program only really is changing anything that has changed. The initial speed is 1gb/sec but then it will drop to 800 to 700.
The most you can do is 500 MB/s on SATA. If it is a hard drive about 180 MB/s tops. So what you are saying is not physically possible. Did you check the macrium setting for displaying in bits vs bytes?

Hey guys. Sorry if this ain't the proper section. I'm trying to back up a system image on windows 10 but every time it gives me an error saying the backup failed and that "The specific backup storage location has the shadow copy on another volume." (0x80780038)." I've looked up quite some fixes but none of them seems to work.

Thanks, any input would be much appreciated.
I download a FREE version of Macrium Reflect yesterday, and this morning used it to make a new rescue dvd, and also made an IMAGE file of all my Windows 10 system over to a backup system. The Image file was 44.4GB.
    All be safe.. Cliff
