I'm with you frdc, I try and keep as much google stuff away as I can. This is disconcerting. (scan is still running)
Eset is slowwww, i only run it once in a blue moon because of it , it will quarantine all that it finds and delete them though so thats good.

I'm glad you're feeling better fredc. I was really concerned about your mental state when you started going Bob Dole on us and using 3rd person self reference.
It won't be the first time i challenged a toolbar or piece of malware to a death match , this is totally normal behavior i think, not positive though.

I just ran the CCleaner installer again.
    What toolbar?

    No unknown toolbars appear in:

    • IE10
    • PM
    • Windows Explorer

    Update
I'm currently running the ESET scan.
    ESET is complaining about something.
Since it is scanning my entire PC, it will be several hours before I can investigate.

Just a "tip" about CCleaner. exe , skip the full version and download the portable version . The full version downloads 4 google toolbars that Eset online scanner finds but no other scanner seems to pick up .

If you have the full version installed download Eset online scanner and make sure you check the box that says "detect unwanted programs" , you will be very surprised at what it finds.

Even downloading direct from Piroform will install these toolbars , i always download direct.
Ummm, i beg to differ. I download for Piriform and i get NO toolbars at all.

Thanks for this info message, and I just need to learn more about CCleaner, and then be able to download it from some place (hopefully NO Viruses) as I know some of the sites that offer it are uploading it with viruses. Thanks for any comments, and your help is appreciated. all be safe... Cliff M.
It is free from here: CCleaner - Download
A little advice here. Don't ever clean up the register with this product. CCleaner is at its best as it arrives set up in the default mode. You can choose some other OS areas to clean up as you gain experience using this product. You could brick your install of Windows if the wrong items are cleaned or deleted. So be advised.

I've sent a PM to @Brink asking him to consider copying/moving the CCleaner discussion to a new thread. :)

You do have other choices. Try Glary Utilities is a lot like CCleaner, maybe a few more features. Here is the link for you to check out. http://www.glarysoft.com/

You may end up with no added toolbars but they're detected in the .exe from Piriform. Definitely.
