I specifically did not do a clean install, and reading halasz reply #7 he specifically did. Not sure what you are saying.

The point is in your new 450MB partition you have boot.sdi with a last modification date of July 10. I have one in my recovery directory with the same date. This must be when MS last modified it in preparation for packaging 10240 RTM. The creation date here - 8th August is when I clean installed.



If this is the same for you then this specific file you mention isn't something left from your upgrade (although there may well be something else of course).

I've just checked my 10532 Hyper-V VM (which is also a clean install). This creates a 500MB system reserved partition and the last modification date of boot.sdi is 23 August (10532 was released on 27th).

Again this is just a wild guess since I don't know when you get your pc.

Not even close, I build my own PCs and also upgrade them changing the boot drive and so on.
And yes I looked at the system partitions after the Windows 10 migration and both the Healthy recovery partitions were there as to be expected as in the initial windows 10 state reversion to Windows 8.1 was still a potential.

But after a Systems Disk Cleanup in which all the transition files were removed, both "Healthy Recovery Partitions" were still there.

So either one step was omitted by MS in the cleanup or it was purposeful so that this kept a record of the fact that this was an upgrade from Windows 8.1 or so that a chain of UUID's were preserved.

My other PC that was originally a clean install of 8.1 on a pristine hard drive and has the same two "Healthy Recovery Partitions" and again the file dates match the install of 8.1 and of 10.

If the Windows 8.1 "Healthy Recovery Partition" had been superfluous I would have deleted the partition and left the trim space a little larger.

The Recovery partitions are outside of that partition.

That is an assumption for which you have no grounds. For the particular case of the windows 8.1 to windows 10 that was almost certainly changed.
